Madan Mohan Malaviya

1.former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malaviya conferred With Bharat Ratna. 

The Modi government’s decision to confer the Bharat Ratna on former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malaviya evoked a positive response even while striking a chord with its key Hindutva constituency.
 If Mr.Vajpayee will be the first swayamsewak to be honoured with the Bharat Ratna, Pandit Malaviya, though essentially a Congressman, had also been the president of the Hindu Mahasabha.

As the BJP’s first PM, Mr Vajpayee holds a special place not just in his own party but across the political spectrum where his qualities of head and heart earned him respect. As for Pandit Malaviya, the RSS had on his 150{+t}{+h}anniversary in 2010, recommended the Bharat Ratna for him. With both men sharing a birthday, December 25, the government decided to honour them together.






2. National Good Governance Day observed on Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 90th birthday.


Former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna recipient Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 90th birthday was observed as National Good Governance Day on 25th December 2014.
 It should be noted that this day is also being observed as Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana( PMGSY) Divas.

3. Upper House seats of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council increased from 50 to 58.

The Union government has approved an amendment to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act to increase the number of seats in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council from 50 to 58.

 The approval was accorded by the Union Cabinet at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Cabinet decided to amend sections 23(1) and 23(2)(i)(a) of the 2014 Act relating to provisions for the legislative council. Since the existing strength of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly is 175 and one-third of its strength was constitutionally permissible, it was decided to increase the strength to 58 Members of Legislative Council from the current strength of 50 MLCs

  4. Government of Telangana declared December 26 as public holiday

  
Government of Telangana has issued an order declaring December 26 as a public holiday. Hitherto, it was an optional holiday only. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao referred to Boxing Day (December 26) being declared as a public holiday when he addressed the gathering after laying the foundation stone for the ‘Christian Bhavan’ here on Tuesday.
