Ankita Raina wins ITF singles title in maiden attempt


Ankita Raina has won 25,000 US Dollar ITF singles title in maiden attempt.
In the finals she defeated Katy Dunne from Britain by score of 6-2, 6-2 held at Deccan Gymkhana in Pune, Maharashtra.

She also became the first Indian to clinch the title in the tournament after 14 years.
About Ankita Raina
She is native of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. In total, she has won five singles and six doubles titles on the ITF tour in her career. On 9 June 2014, her world rank number was 262 in singles while as on 22 December 2014, she peaked at world number 263 in the doubles rankings.
She has win-loss record 3-4 while playing for India at the Fed Cup.

Raghubar Das sworn in as 10th CM of Jharkhand


Raghubar Das was sworn-in as 10th Chief Minister of Jharkhand and becoming first non-tribal to hold this post.
Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed administered the oath of office and secrecy to him at oath taking ceremony held at Birsa Munda Football Stadium, Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Along with Raghubar Das, following 4 cabinet ministers were sworn in
  •    Nilkanth Singh Munda, Chandreswar Prasad Singh, Louis Marandi (all BJP).
  •    Chandraprakash Choudhary (AJSU party).
Raghubar Das became 10th CM and 6th person as state CM after Babulal Marandi (once), Arjun Munda (thrice), Shibu Soren (thrice), Madhu Koda (once) and Hemant Soren (once) since state was granted statehood status after bifurcating from Bihar on 15 November 2000.
Background
In 2014 Jharkhand State Assembly election, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had emerged victorious by winning 37 out of total 81 seats in state.
BJP along with its ally All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) which has won 5 seats in total has 42 seats, thus formed ruling government in state.
About Raghubar Das
  •    He was recently elected to state legislative assembly from Jamshedpur (East) constituency.
  •    He started his career as a labourer in Tata Steel. He did his schooling and college in Jamshedpur and later joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
  •    Political career: He had joined BJP in 1980 and was elected as the state BJP chief twice.
  •    He is five-time MLA from Jamshedpur East constituency. Earlier he became a minister in the Jharkhand government for the first time in 2000 and since then he has held portfolios of finance, labour and urban development during his stint as cabinet minister.
  •    He also has served as the Deputy CM in the Shibu Soren government from 2009-10.

Hindi poet and a litterateur Nand Chaturvedi passes away


Noted Hindi poet and a litterateur Nand Chaturvedi passed away in Udaipur, Rajasthan. He was 91.
About Nand Chaturvedi
He was born in 1923 in Jhalawar, Rajasthan. He was poet, a litterateur and a socialist.
Career: He had done his Master of Arts in Hindi from Rajasthan University and was a retired Professor of Hindi subject from Vidya Bhawan Rural Institute.
Popular Work: Apart from teaching, he used to write poems. Some of his popular works include collection of essays like Yeh Samai Mamuli Nahin, Shabd Sansar ki Yayavari , Imandar Dunya Ke Liye.
Awards: He was awarded with Bihari Puraskar of K K Birla Foundation in for his poem ‘Yeh Samai mamuli nahin’. He also has received Prasaran Sanmaan by Prasar Bharati.
He is recipient of Sahitya Vachaspati award- a top literary honour of Prayag Hindi Sahitya Sammelan and Mira Puraskar- the highest literary honour of Rajasthan Government

"Government employees have to disclose deposits in foreign banks under Lokpal Act"

 Amending the rules for voluntary disclosure of assets and liabilities by government employees under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has effected some changes in the form, making it mandatory for them to disclose deposits in foreign banks. The deadline has been extended by four months from December 31. 

“Details of deposits in the foreign bank (s) to be given separately,” states the DoPT order, adding that government employees have to file statements of movable property separately for self, spouse and dependent child. While investments above Rs.2 lakh have to be reported individually, amounts below that can be reported together.

 According to the rules, government employees from Group A, B and C service are required to declare assets and liabilities for the previous fiscal by the following July 31.

 The last date for filing the disclosures this year was September 15, which was first extended to September 15 and then to December 31, which has again been advanced to April 30, 2015.
